“Supporting young creatives is core to the Motley philosophy.” – Cecily Motley
Being a young designer is tough. Being a young jewellery designer is extremely tough.
Motley believes in nurturing up-and-coming talent as part of our commitment to evolution and inclusivity within the jewellery industry. So, we are partnered with UAL – Central Saint Martins to help give a platform to young talent and to empower a new generation of designers.
Our annual Motley award at the BA Jewellery Design degree showcase offers one graduate the opportunity to create their first collection with Motley. We pay them fairly and give them support and expertise to help bring their ideas to life.
We’re biased, but we think this approach leads to incredible designs from the next generation of jewellery designers.
Meet Motley’s latest Young Designer
Zak Sheinman is the latest young jewellery designer to join the Motley Crew. Zak graduated from UAL – Central Saint Martins in 2020. Zak’s designs begin with 3D animations; his work is linked to playful movement – both physical and political – with billowing silhouettes and intriguing shapes. Inspired by old cartoons and contemporary design, Zak imbues each piece with a rebellious spirit and whimsical shock factor.
